Accessibility and usability barriers
The following information is provided to help people with disabilities know what potential barriers may exist with Box.
Screen reader barriers may limit accessibility for some users, such as people who are blind or have low vision
There are several instances of state changes that are not announced and buttons that are unlabeled or not announced. Some features lack appropriate context and description for a screen reader user. Notifications and dialogs are announced inconsistently, often with a delay. Additionally, the reading order is often illogical. The Notes interface is particularly difficult to navigate.
Keyboard navigation barriers may limit accessibility for some users, such as people with motor disabilities
There are focus states that do not meet the minimum contrast requirement of 3:1 for focus or hover states. This may make it difficult for keyboard users to know where they are on the page. There are several instances of buttons and links that cannot be accessed by keyboard; many of these are in the Notes interface. Some dialogs and notifications do not receive keyboard focus. Additionally, the focus order (tab order) is often illogical.
Magnification and reflow barriers may limit accessibility for some users, such as people who have low vision
There are several instances where UI components disappear or get cut off when the webpage is magnified. Most of these issues occur at 300% zoom or higher. Some issues occur at 150% zoom or higher.
Low contrast may limit accessibility for some users, such as people who are color blind or have low vision
There is low contrast text in the left sidebar. There are several instances of low contrast focus indicators.
