Snow Action Day Protocol

When significant snowy weather is expected, campus officials will call a Snow Action Day. The purpose is to alert the campus community and enable the crews --it is not an indication that school is canceled, just a call to action! Snow Action Days will be announced on the UW homepage.

During a Snow Action Day…
- People will be encouraged to leave cars at home
- Moped and bicycle travel discouraged
- Winter parking rules in affect
- Top level of parking ramps closed
- Signs atop Bascom Hill and at Memorial Union if buses can't make it up Observatory

New parking rules (effective 11/15 - 3/15)
- No parking on Observatory Dr. or Linden Dr. between 2-6 am
- Lot 16 & 51 will have designated rows for overnight, non-permit parking between 2-6 am
- Lot 32, 34, & 40 will be designated parking for departmental employees

Lastly, crews will spray a solution on the south walk of Bascom Hill and on the footbridge over Park St. before a snow fall to melt falling snow and prevent ice formation
