The University of Wisconsin has recently launched a project within the Human Research Protection Program (HRPP) to deliver improvements to the University’s HRPP and Institutional Review Board (IRB) operations. The purpose of this project is to implement key changes to improve the efficiency and effectiveness of the UW HRPP and IRBs with the primary aims of reducing administrative burden and IRB approval times, while also improving UW investigator and study team member satisfaction with the IRB experience.
The project, called the IRB Efficiency Project, includes multiple workstreams and almost every aspect of the HRPP will be undergoing changes that align with the project aims. More information about the IRB Efficiency Project can be found at: https://research.wisc.edu/research-compliance-and-ethics-oversight/irb-efficiency-project/. The project team will post regular updates to the project webpage regarding progress and milestones achieved.
In addition, the Office of the Vice Chancellor for Research and Graduate Education is interested in measuring the success of the project. To that end, the project team has developed a short survey that will be administered at different points during and after the project. Please take a minute to complete the survey at your earliest convenience: https://uwmadison.co1.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_bKnG1gnT86lTrG5.
