WiscVPN - Connecting to the Palo Alto GlobalProtect Client (Android)
Note: This application has known functionality issues in which the user may be unable to connect after the initial setup. See work-arounds below.
Connecting to the Palo Alto GlobalProtect App

Upon opening the app, you will be prompted to enter a portal. Enter the following portal address: uwmadison.vpn.wisc.edu. Then tap "CONNECT."

After connecting, you will be prompted for a username and password. Enter your NetID for the username (do not include @wisc.edu) and your NetID password for the password. Tap "SIGN IN."

You will be prompted with Duo as shown below. Enter the password from your key fob/Duo Mobile app or enter "1" to receive a push on your mobile device.

The app may prompt you to allow connection. If it does, click "OK."

After allowing the app to connect, the screen will remain blue to indicate active status. A white icon with a green shield should appear on the screen above "CONNECTED." To disconnect, tap this shield icon.
Functionality Work-Arounds
If, when reattempting to connect to WiscVPN, your application becomes stuck on "Discovering Network," try the following solutions:
- Remove yourself as a user and re-authenticate.
- Clear the VPN portal and reconnect.

- While the connection is loading, lock your screen and unlock it.
Troubleshooting
We recommend basic troubleshooting: make sure your security settings are allowing the app to work properly. Anti-virus apps as well as other VPNs might affect the functionality of the app.
