UW-Madison Zoom - Getting started with Marketplace

Zoom Marketplace helps you find apps that can integrate with Zoom and enhance your experience using the software. Users can search for different categories of apps and install them from the marketplace website. The pre-approval to install an app is also controlled from the marketplace website by account owners and admins.

Install an application

After you find the application you want to install, select it. You may be able to install it from within the Marketplace or it may redirect you to the application vendor site.

You will only be able install an application which only requires permissions to your account:

view/manage your meetings/webinars/profile only

IMPORTANT:

Do not request to install an application if the application requires full access to all user accounts and data in our environment, we will not be able to activate/approve it. It is a level of access that we cannot grant at an institutional level, due to security and administrative concerns and restrictions.

For an app to be available for installation in UW-Madison Zoom it cannot require access to all user accounts and data. At the bottom of each app description page, there is a description of the access level required by the application. Apps that can be used are those that only require access to the specific user's account.

Quick tip! To determine if an app requires access to the entire UW-Madison Zoom space versus just your individual UW-Madison Zoom account, look for these terms: JSON Web Tokens, JWT or OAuth.

  • JSON Web Tokens/JWT- requires access to the entire UW-Madison Zoom space. Apps that require this type of integration will not be approved.
  • OAuth - requests access to your individual UW-Madison Zoom account. Apps that require this type of integration can be approved and installed on your own.

Here are some examples of applications which we cannot approve/activate:

  • Rev Live Captions
  • JWT
  • Eventbrite
  • 3Play Media

Another option would be to look for another app in the Zoom Marketplace that would perform similar functions without requiring access to all user accounts and data. At the bottom of each app description page, there is a description of the access level required by the application. Apps that can be used are those that only require access to the specific user's account.
