iOS 14 & Above - Turning Off the Private Address Feature

This document outlines how to turn off the new "Private Address" feature that was introduced in iOS 14.

iOS 14's new private address feature allows for the randomization of the device's MAC address. Due to how UWNet works and authenticates devices to make sure the network is secure, devices with this feature enabled may have issues connecting to UWNet and Eduroam.

Turning off the Private Address Feature

    1. Open up the 'Settings' app, and choose 'Wi-Fi'.

Choosing Settings and Wifi

    1. Click the blue 'i' symbol next to either UWNet or Eduroam or both.

    1. Click the green toggle button next to "Private Address", and then press 'Rejoin' in the following pop-up.

The device should now be able to connect to UWNet or Eduroam.
