Overview

This document will focus on the Course Search & Enroll adjustments in relation to the mixed in-person and online classes (Spring 2021 semester).

For general information and guides for searching, course and section panels, see the following resources:

Mode of Instruction filter

The adjusted Mode of Instruction filter is available as one of the search options in Course Search & Enroll. By default, the "All" option will be selected.

  • All
  • In-Person Instruction
  • Hybrid (In-Person & Online)
  • Online Only (Asynchronous)
  • Online Only (Synchronous)
  • Online Only (All)

Mode of instruction filters

An important note about the Mode of Instruction filter: filters only display results where ALL the components have the SAME mode of instruction.

The filter may be changed at any time while viewing class section. Click on Mode of instruction to expand the list and select a different filter. Section results will update as you change the filter.

Mode of Instruction is also noted by expending section information (click on the class row to expand).

Tips for using the filter

Classes that are online only and DO NOT require you to be available to participate at a set day/time Online Only (Asynchronous)
Classes that are online only and require you to be available to participate at a set day/time Online Only (Synchronous)
All classes that are online only, either synchronous or asynchronous Online Only (All)
Classes with all possible mode of instruction combinations (e.g. lecture is online only and discussion is in-person) All

An important note about the Mode of Instruction filter: filters only display results where ALL the components have the SAME mode of instruction.

Day/Time and Location

If you select to view all results and not filter using the Mode of Instruction filter, you can distinguish between the different modes of instruction by the day/time and location information.
We highly recommend utilizing the filter, however, the understanding of the date/time and location information can be useful when looking at results where different class components do not have the same mode of instruction.

  • Day/Time: Days and times
    Location: Online
Mode of instruction is online, classes are synchronous

  • Day/Time: Term/session dates

Class Notes

Class Notes are available when expanding section information (click on the class row to expand) and may provide additional information about the class. Some information might be relevant or related to that section's mode of instruction, therefore, we encourage you to review class note when searching for classes.
