Bicycle registrations are required by a city ordinance. Registration helps to identify your bike if it is recovered after being stolen, and failure to register your bicycle can result in a $50 fine. The UW also requires all bikes on campus to be registered with the City of Madison or another municipality.
To register your bicycle you need to know the serial number, manufacturer, model, frame type, bicycle type, wheel size, number of speeds, and frame size and color. Cost is $10 and is good for four years. There are many ways to register your bicycle
1. By Internet- Go to https://elam.cityofmadison.com/CitizenAccess/ to register.
2. By Mail- Call 608-266-4474 to request a mail-in application, or print the application at http://www.cityofmadison.com/bikemadison/documents/BikeRegMailIn.pdf
3. In Person- Go to any bicycle store in Madison, 124 WARF Building (on the west side of campus) or the
City Treasurers Office in the City-County Building, 210 Martin Luther King Jr Blvd. room 107
