The mission of the American Family Children's Hospital is to provide comprehensive health care of children and families in a healing environment that emphasizes their quality of life.
Located at the University of Wisconsin Hospital and Clinics, the hospital is a six-story, 135,000 square foot, 84-bed facility that opened in August 2007. The inpatient rooms average over 250 square feet. Other areas such as classroom space, Child Life play areas, and patient/family spaces have been designed to create a unique child-friendly architectural look and feel, an element that contributes to the healing of children.
The warm, family-centered environment is further enhanced through special activities such as a Child Life program, a Pet Therapy program, a Hospital School run by the Madison Metropolitan School District, and family lodging at the nearby Ronald McDonald House.Locations and maps: http://apps.uwhealth.org/locations/Location.action?locationdetail=&_sourcePage=%2Findex.jsp&locationId=169
