Helps people break the smoking habit through intensive, one-on-one counseling and group counseling. All follow-up visits are support groups. Helps visitors stop smoking through five strategies: supportive group cessation counseling; relevant information, including guidelines on how to avoid weight gain and relapse; motivational tools (reading and self-guided workbook); pharmacological tools (nicotine patch) to lessen withdrawal; and long-term group support. Support group meets twice weekly.
