The Dane County Law Library (DCLL) refers people to the resources that can help them, offers a class for people unfamiliar with legal resources and refers people to the Dane County Bar Association's Family Law Assistance Center.
The Family Court Clinic (FCC) is a UW Law School program where law students help self-represented family law litigants with forms, information on court procedures and educational materials, including divorce workshops and obtaining Temporary Restraining Orders. They are available by appointment in Room L1022 (West End) in the Dane County Courthouse, when the law school is in session. Contact the DCLL at (608) 266-6316 for current days and hours of availability. Contact FCC at (608) 262-2301 for more information or to make an appointment.
DCLL collects most current primary Wisconsin legal resources: statutes, administrative code, and Wisconsin Reports, as well as local Madison and Dane County Ordinances. In addition, DCLL retains all old statutes and session laws, and collects Attorney General opinions, court rules, and selected Wisconsin legal periodicals. DCLL also has a Wisconsin treatise collection containing State Bar of Wisconsin CLE practice books and other secondary resources.
