Harvey Street apartments are furnished apartments for single graduate students with no dependents.
The apartments are located in a residential neighborhood, approximately one half-mile southwest of campus. University Avenue, one the major thoroughfares in Madison, is ½ block away, providing residents with easy access to bus routes.
There are seven two-story buildings, with a total of 47 apartments. The entire complex is smoke free (no smoking). All two-bedroom apartments are on the second floor, and all one-bedroom apartments are on the first floor.
Apartments range from 418 square feet to 505 square feet. Each apartment has one bathroom, and a small kitchen that is open to the living room.
The apartments are all simply furnished. In the kitchen area, there is a stove, refrigerator, garbage disposal, a kitchen table, and two chairs. In the living room area there are a chair, a couch, two small bookcases, an end table and two lamps. Each bedroom has a twin long bed, chest of drawers, a desk and chair, closet space, and a small bookcase.
Heat, water and electricity are included in the rent. Residents can choose to contract for telephone and cable TV if they choose.
Harvey Street Apartments residents share a spacious, centrally located laundry facility. Washers and dryers are free to use.
Smoking is not permitted anywhere in the Harvey Street Apartments. Apartments, common areas (such as hallways and laundry room) and any area within twenty-five feet of the apartment buildings are all smoke free.
The Harvey Street Apartments are located close to a bus line and are a short bus ride to campus. Parking is limited and will be issued on a first-come, first-served basis. The current parking rate is $25 per month.
If you wish to apply for a parking stall, complete the "Parking Application" enclosed in your move-in materials (when you receive a lease), and submit it to the University Apartments Office.
Parking may be requested later on, and will be assigned on a space-available basis. Once your Parking Application is received, you will be notified regarding the status of your parking request. If you do not receive a parking permit, you may ask to be on a waiting list or to purchase a permit for the Eagle Heights Paid Parking Lot.
Dogs, cats, snakes, and other pets, unless listed below as approved, are not permitted. Small harmless fish (in a tank no larger than 20 gallons), salamanders, caged birds, lizards, hermit crabs, frogs, toads, gerbils, white mice and hamsters are considered appropriate pets if humanely cared for, odorless, completely harmless to persons and property, and kept in a cage or glass enclosure. If you have a pet that is not permitted, please make arrangements for its care before moving into University Apartments.
