Independent Living, Inc. is a non-profit, 40-year-old multi-service agency that assists seniors and adults with disabilities.  The mission is to support, serve and help older adults and persons with disabilities continue to live with dignity and independence.

The Home Share program carefully matches a home owner—a senior or an adult with a disability—with a compassionate, energetic and mature adult in need of a place to live.   In exchange for reduced or occasionally free rent, the companion does household tasks such as cooking, cleaning and laundry.

This Madison-area program helps elderly people or adults with disabilities stay in their home.  Living arrangements for the live-in companion vary from a private bedroom to a fully furnished efficiency within the property.
It is simple to participate in the program as a “home seeker.”  Complete an application and submit it with a $50 non-refundable application fee.   When your perfect match is found, there is a match fee of $300 to $500 dollars, based on your income.  The match fee is typically less than a security deposit.  Plus, seekers are getting reduced rent for the duration of the match.  Even better, you will be helping an elderly individual or person with a disability stay in their home!  It is a win-win situation for everyone.
We do full background checks and reference checks on all individuals in the program, plus in-person interviews.  Please contact Independent Living, Inc. at (608) 274-7900 or for more information.
