The City Assessor has three major duties- to discover, list and estimate the value of all taxable property within the jurisdiction of the city.

For each property within the city of Madison, the Assessor establishes a record showing the owner, the owner's mailing address, a description of the property in detail and a legal description, and identifies the property on an assessor's map by parcel number.

On their website, one may search for properties by address, address range, name and parcel, and receive general information as well as sales information, legal description, tax information and information on special assessments.

Mark Hanson is the current City Assessor.
