ResNet (Mac OS X) - Network Configuration

This document describes how to configure Mac OS 10.x for ResNet.

In order to connect your machine to Resnet you need to first configure your network settings. To configure Mac OS 10.x perform the following:

Mac OS 10.5 or later

  1. Open System Preferences. System Preferences can be opened by either clicking on the shortcut in the Dock or by going to the Apple Menu -> System Preferences.
  2. Click on Network to open the Network panel.
  3. Click on Network.

  4. Click on Ethernet on the left side.
  5. Click on Ethernet.

  6. Select Using DHCP for the Configure: drop down menu on the right.
  7. Select Using DHCP from the drop down menu.

  8. Click on Apply in the bottom right.
  9. Click on Apply.

  10. Quit System Preferences.

Mac OS 10.4.x or earlier

  1. Open System Preferences. System Preferences can be opened by either clicking on the shortcut in the Dock or by going to the Apple Menu -> System Preferences.
  2. Click on Network to open the Network panel.
  3. Click on Network.

  4. Select your ethernet card from the Show: drop down menu.
  5. Select your ethernet card from the Show: drop down menu.

  6. Select Using DHCP for the Configure IPv4: drop down menu.
  7. Select Using DHCP.

  8. Click Apply Now.
  9. Click Apply Now.

  10. Quit System Preferences.
Your Macintosh should now be configured to access ResNet.
