WiscWeb CMS - Content Blocks - Using a Photo with Caption

The Photo with Caption block is relatively simple, in that its sole purpose is to nicely format an image and associated caption. The block allows you to specify alignment for the image.

Here is an example implementation of the block:

Refer to WiscWeb CMS - Content Blocks - General Steps to Implementing Content Blocks in order to insert an instance of a Photo with Caption on your page. Then proceed to populate the content as described below.

Using a Photo with Caption

  1. Click the Open Block red dot.

    Open Block button

A few options are made available via red dots.

  2. Click the Alignment red dot to set whether you want the image and text to show up on the left or right of the column.

    choose alignment

  3. Click the Edit Photo red dot, and a new window appears that allows you to choose a new image, as well as add/modify alternative text for the image (the latter is important for users with screen readers and Section 508 compliance, which the University of Wisconsin is required to abide by).

    edit photo

  4. Click the Edit Caption red dot to richly format the text that you want to associate with the image. This text can differ from the alternative text you set in the previous step, but does not have to.

    edit caption text
