WiscWeb CMS - Keywording and Lists Overview

This document introduces the concept of using Categories and Keywords to populate pages with specific content. Keywords can be used to populate lists (for example, a Faculty Listing or New List page).

Categories are groups that can encompass several Keywords (for example, the Staff category can contain an “Instructor” keyword and a “Grad Student” keyword). You can assign a Category to a page or to a list without assigning Keywords.

The steps to set up and utilize Categories and Keywords are:

  • Create Categories and assign Keywords to the specific category.
  • Create Content Items (for example, create a Faculty Listing page with all of your faculty and staff pages).
  • Assign Keywords to created pages
  • Create Content Items that will be populated by Keyworded items (for example, breaking down a Faculty Listing content item by department, specialty, interests, etc.
