WiscWeb CMS - Adding New Content to a Page
Once a page has been created in WiscWeb CMS, content needs to be connected to that page. This document explains how to create new content and connect that content to an existing page within the CMS.
- On a page within SmartEdit, click the "Open Page" red dot.
Once the page opens, the body area of the page will contain one or more red dots that allow you to add, sort, or remove blocks from the corresponding column.
- Click the red dot next to Manage Center Blocks.
Note: The red dot that contains three horizontal lines alerts you to either a Container or a List being editable. In this case, we are editing the Container that corresponds to an entire column of the page.
A new window appears, giving you various options.
To add new content to the Container, click Create and Connect Page. This allows you to create a new instance of a content block.
The List of Content Classes dialog box will appear, and you can choose which content block (also known as a Content Class, in CMS terminology) to make an instance of by clicking on its title. Note: The List of Content Classes that appears will depend on the Content Block that you are editing.
On the following screen, enter a Headline that you would like to give this block.
- Remember, the Headline is used to identify the page within the WiscWebCMS project itself, not externally.
When you are finished naming the block, click OK in the lower-right corner.
The block is inserted into your page, and the appropriate red dot(s) are now available for you to work with. Information on working with the standard template content classes can be found at: https://kb.wisc.edu/wiscwebcms/search.php?cat=3215
