Breaking the Bias Habit
This workshop introduces academic audiences to the concepts of implicit or unconscious biases and assumptions about diverse groups of people by treating the application of such biases as a “habit,” with a focus on race, ethnicity, and gender.
The Discussion Project
A professional development series intended to strengthen capacity to create welcoming, engaging, and academically rigorous classroom environments where students and instructors engage in productive dialogue on important issues and topics.
Hostile and Intimidating Behavior
Learn more about what hostile and intimidating behavior is and where and how to seek resources to address this behavior. Information is available in English, Spanish, Hmong, Tibetan, and Chinese.

Inclusion @ UW is designed for employees to learn and practice skills that build our collective capacity to promote the campus commitment to “value the contributions of each person…and create a welcoming and inclusive community.”
Leadership Institute
A dialogue-based professional development opportunity to engage in individual and interpersonal learning and unlearning processes. Participants meet weekly for several months to co-create a learning environment through their own lived experiences in partnership with readings, videos, and podcasts to ultimately confront their own assumptions and deconstruct dominant social paradigms.
Justified Anger
Sponsored by the Nehemiah Center for Urban Leadership Development, Justified Anger is a 9-week course designed to deepen understanding of how the African American experience has shaped the world we live in, and how allies can find roles supporting racial justice.
Plain Language Training
Three sequential workshops intended to introduce employees to plain language and hold space to practice writing and designing for plain language. These trainings are intended to provide tools and resources for inclusive communication.
Racial Justice and Healing Collective
A 14-week facilitated journey for employees interested in investing in their own learning, growth, and healing around anti-racism. Centered on The Racial Healing Handbook by Anneliese Singh, the group engages in dialogue-based sessions that will focus on support for each other’s self-work and collective learning, exchanging ideas and resources, and exploring personal journeys of navigating institutional racism and systems of oppression.
Reframing Recruitment Through a Racial Equity Lens
A series of workshops where employees will engage in conversation around why and how to center racial equity in recruitment and hiring practices. Employees will learn new strategies to remove unintentional barriers and improve access for candidates by reframing current practices through a racial equity lens.
Rejuvenation through Decolonization Emergent Learning Series
A 7-week learning series centered on health equity and healing justice. Participants will explore decolonization and ancestral healing practices to deconstruct what is known as the 7 dimensions of wellness. Each week of the series will focus on unpacking a different dimension of wellness and learn more about how each dimension is deeply rooted in historical systems of colonialism & capitalism. Registration for this series will require commitment to attending all sessions. This learning series is not recommended for someone who is just beginning to explore topics around social and racial justice.
Restorative Justice Workshops
Facilitated by the YWCA, participants will learn and explore (1) restorative justice philosophy, history, and processes, (2) restorative justice as a strategy to dismantle institutional racism, and (3) restorative and transformative justice as a movement.
Social Justice Training Institute
The Social Justice Training Institute (SJTI) provides a forum for the professional and personal development of social justice educators and practitioners to enhance and refine their skills and competencies to create greater inclusion for all members of the community.
