Learn@UW - Make Your Site Trusted and Allow Pop-ups when Using Internet Explorer

If you are using Internet Explorer, you should make your Learn@UW site a trusted site and allow pop-ups. Otherwise, you may encounter difficulties viewing or downloading content.

  1. Select Tools -> Internet Options from your browser's menu.

  2. Select the Security tab from the "Internet Options" dialog.

  3. Press the "Trusted Sites" icon and then Press the Sites button to open the "Trusted Sites" dialog.

  4. In the "Trusted sites" dialog, Enter the URL of the site in the "Add this website to the zone:" box and press the Add button.
    The URL is https://uwxxx.courses.wisconsin.edu where xxx depends upon the campus.

  5. Press the Close button from the "Trusted Sites" dialog.

  6. Select the Privacy tab from the "Internet Options" dialog.

  7. In the "Privacy" dialog under "Pop-up Blocker":

    • To allow pop-ups for all web sites, un-check the "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" box.

    • To allow pop-ups for your Learn@UW site, check the "Turn on Pop-up Blocker" box and press the Settings button.

      Then, enter the URL of the instance in the "Address of website to allow:" box and press the Add button.
      The URL is https://uwxxx.courses.wisconsin.edu where xxx depends upon the campus.

  8. Press the Close button.

  9. Press OK from the "Internet Options" dialog.

  10. Close and re-open your browser for the changes to take effect.
