Directory Search (Win) - Configure Outlook 2013 for the White Pages

Important: By February 28, 2017, Office 2013 version Office 365 ProPlus is no longer available for installation with an Office 365 subscription. Microsoft will no longer push any updates to Office 2013 suite of applications - complete details.

The following document explains how to configure directory search in Outlook 2013. Please contact the DoIT Help Desk if you have any issues setting up connectivity to the campus directory.

  1. Launch Outlook.

  2. Click on the File tab.

  3. Click on Account Settings, then "Add and remove accounts or change existing connection settings."

  4. Click on the Address Books tab.

  5. Then click New...

  6. Select Internet Directory Service (LDAP)

    Then click Next

  7. In the Sever Name field, type:

    Then click on More settings...

  8. You will see a pop up that says "You must restart Outlook for these changes to take effect."

    Click OK

  9. Within Display Name, enter:

    Then click on the Search tab.

  10. Under Search Base, select Custom.

    In this field, type: dc=wisc,dc=edu

  11. Now you should be back on the screen called Directory Service (LDAP) Settings

  12. You should see the following screen:

  13. Click Close in the Directories and Address Books window

  14. You will need to exit and restart Outlook before you can use LDAP.

    Click on the File tab

  15. Restart Outlook.

  16. Click on Address Book

  17. In the Tools menu, click Options

  18. Make sure Custom is selected. Then click on to select it, and use the arrow to the right to move it to the top of the list.

    Then, under "When opening the address book, show this address list first:" select

    Then click OK

  19. When you relaunch Outlook, you should be able to search the LDAP directory!
