Wisconsin Federation - Logging into an application

Many UW System applications can be accessed using a local campus username and password. Most of these applications use Wisconsin Federation. This document explains how to login to such an application using Wisconsin Federation.

  1. Go to an application which uses Wisconsin Federation (such as My UW System Portal) and you will be redirected to a page called the WAYF (Where Are You From), as shown below, which allows you to select the campus you will be logging in via.

  2. Select your campus and click Select.

Optional: If you check "Remember Me" then you will automatically be redirected to the login page for your chosen campus the next time you visit a Wisconsin Federation application on that computer. You may also be automatically logged in if you last accessed the system recently enough. You should not use this option if you are using a public computer or if you are affiliated with multiple campuses.

  3. You will then be taken to the login page for your campus. For UW-Milwaukee, the login page is shown below. Many campuses will have similar looking login pages, though a few may have a more customized login page.

  4. Enter your campus-specific username and password and click Login.

After logging in successfully, you should be redirected to the application you were attempting to use.
