Microsoft Volume Activation - Converting Microsoft Office 2010 or Office 2013 From MAK to KMS Activation

Overview

  This document covers the procedure by which an end user or IT Technician can change their Office 2010 or 2013 installations from using MAK (Product Key) activation to using KMS (Network) activation.

Procedure

  1. Click Start. In the Search box, type
    • cmd
    • Do not press Enter on your keyboard.
  2. Right-click on cmd.exe in the search results, then select Run as administrator from the menu that appears.
  3. Verify the version of Office you are running, you can look in your Start Menu, the applications will say, "Word 20##" or, "Excel 20##"
    • For Office 2010
      • Copy and paste the following commands into the command prompt window we opened earlier. Press enter after every command.
      • cscript "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /inpkey:VYBBJ-TRJPB-QFQRF-QFT4D-H3GVB
      • cscript "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /inpkey:VYBBJ-TRJPB-QFQRF-QFT4D-H3GVB
      • cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:ms-kms-1.services.wisc.edu
      • cscript ospp.vbs /act
    • For Office 2013
      1. Copy and paste the following commands into the command prompt window we opened earlier. Press enter after every command.
      2. cscript "%programfiles%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /inpkey:YC7DK-G2NP3-2QQC3-J6H88-GVGXT
      3. cscript "%programfiles(x86)%\Microsoft Office\Office14\ospp.vbs" /inpkey:YC7DK-G2NP3-2QQC3-J6H88-GVGXT
      4. cscript ospp.vbs /sethst:ms-kms-1.services.wisc.edu
      5. cscript ospp.vbs /act

Office should now be activated.
