Performance Evaluation Process

The UW Child Development Lab's performance evaluation process begins each fall with a work planning and goal-setting meeting between teachers and administrators. During this meeting, teachers recap recent achievements, set job goals for the next 12 months, and create a continuing education plan to support these goals. Teachers also evaluate their own classrooms using a structured tool and set goals for improvement. Ongoing feedback is provided through classroom observations, family program evaluations, peer feedback, and targeted training. Staff receive an annual written performance review, assessing areas such as job knowledge, child interactions, health and safety, family engagement, supervision, creativity, communication, professionalism, and personal growth.
