How to use a daily permit at a UW campus parking garage

Daily permits provide short-term parking for a specific lot or garage. You can order them online from Transportation Services between two months and two weeks before you plan to use them.

All campus garages use electronic gates. Your permit is valid only for the specific garage printed on your hangtag. You can find your garage location on the campus map.

Entering and exiting

Stop at the kiosk. Pull up to the gate at your assigned garage.

Scan your tag. Hold the barcode (located on the back of your hangtag) up to the scanner. Note: The scanner is usually found below and to the left of the touchscreen.

The gate will open. Once scanned, the gate will lift so you can enter or exit.

Display your permit by hanging it from your rearview mirror. Make sure the lot number is facing toward the windshield so it can be seen from the outside.

Helpful Parking Tips

Ignore "Lot Full" signs. If you see a "Lot Full" sign, it doesn’t apply to you. As a daily permit holder, you are guaranteed a space. You may enter and park anyway.

Need help? If the gate won't open or you have trouble scanning, press the "HELP" button on the kiosk. This will connect you directly to a dispatcher who can assist you.
