Corel Transactional Licensing Program (CTL)
Terms and Conditions for University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Technical College System departments
These are some of the points contained in the document found at this URL: http://apps.corel.com/clp/terms/CTLEnglish.pdf. That document remains the authoritative source for the terms and conditions under which Corel software is sold to departments of the University of Wisconsin and Wisconsin Technical College Systems.
Only University of Wisconsin System and Wisconsin Technical College System departments are eligible to purchase, using departmental funds, under the Corel Transactional Licensing Program. That contract does not allow sales to UW Hospital. All software must be purchased using school funds.
The CTL is a volume licensing program and not a site license. End Users must purchase a license for each computer on which the software is installed.
All licenses purchased under the CTL are perpetual -- departments own the licenses at the purchased version forever.
Corel retains ownership of all software licensed under this program. When you purchase software licenses under this program, you are purchasing a right to use the software. That right is limited by the End User License Agreement (EULA) you must agree to when you install the software.
Departments are responsible for ensuring they are properly licensed. The most common illegal use is installing the software without buying enough licenses. Corel has the right to audit use of the software sold under this program at any University of Wisconsin or Wisconsin Technical College campus during and after the contract term. If the audit shows that Licensee has understated its Use of the Software, Licensee shall immediately purchase, from COREL or Reseller, sufficient licenses to support the actual Use. If Licensee has understated its Use by more than five percent (5%), Licensee shall also pay the reasonable expenses of the audit.
Number of Permitted Installations:
When you purchase a Corel software license, Corel will email you a license certificate within a few days of your purchase. That certificate will list the number of licenses you have purchased. Each license you have purchased permits you to install and use one copy of the purchased software on a school-owned computer, the only exception being the provision for Home and Laptop use (below).
Home and Laptop Use:
Home and Laptop Use means use of a second copy of the Software on a portable computer or a home personal computer, and is permitted so long as the second copy is never in memory or virtual memory at the same time the primary copy is in memory or virtual memory on the primary computer. In other words, each license allows use of the software on no more than one computer at any given time.
Home and Laptop Use is permitted for each copy of a Special Application in use by a faculty or staff member, except that Home and Laptop Use is prohibited in China, India, Vietnam and Indonesia. Special Applications include the following software applications: Corel CAPTURE, CorelDRAW, Corel DESIGNER, Corel Painter, Paint Shop Pro Photo, Paradox, PHOTO-PAINT, Presentations, Quattro Pro and WordPerfect.
Licensee shall be entitled to receive free-of-charge electronic support (i.e. Knowledge base and other online tools). COREL will address technical support requests on a reasonable efforts basis only and may not be able to resolve all problems or requests. Academic support does not include email support from Corel.
