The Red Card Meal Plan is a pre-paid debit card that gives students and parents an alternative to on-campus meal plans. Students can buy groceries at Fresh Madison Market located in the heart of campus, and at dozens of student-favored restaurants on State Street and in the surrounding campus neighborhoods. Whether they dine in, take out, or request delivery, students just make a menu selection, have their Red Card swiped and the exact amount is deducted from their account. It’s that simple—no more digging in the sofa for food money, no costly ATM fees, no finance charges, no credit card debt.

How the meal plan works:.
Your student can pick up their card at our convenient State Street office when they arrive in Madison.
Your student can use the card to shop for groceries, dine at and take out or request delivery from one of our participating merchants.
He or she presents the Red Card as payment, and the exact amount will be deducted from the account balance.
Keep track of the account by viewing balance and transactions online.
Add any amount of money to the card at any time online, via phone, or in person. Account balances carry over from semester to semester and year to year.

On January 19, 2016, Red Card announced a partnership with EatStreet aimed to make online ordering easier for UW - Madison students. See press release here.
