UWSC Support -- My UW-System Portal - Customizing Modules, Content, and Layout

GENERAL DESCRIPTION:

This document describes how to add and move modules in the My UW-System portal.

PROCESS CONSIDERATIONS:
  • Depending on your classification (faculty, staff, instructor, student, adviser, applicant) you may not have access to all available modules.  If you do not have access to a module that you feel you should be able to access, contact your supervisor or HR office to determine if the module is one that is available to your classification.



PROCEDURE STEPS:

Add a New Module

  1. Click the Customize button at the top of the page.

  2. The following menu will appear when you click on the button. Make sure the Add Stuff tab is selected on the left menu. Choose the module you would like to add.

  3. Once you choose the module you would like to add, mouse over the title bar, click and hold the mouse button down.

  4. While still holding the mouse button down, drag the module to where you would like to place it. You should see a red box with the text "Drop Here" underneath the mouse cursor. Release the mouse button and the module should be placed.

Move an Existing Module

  1. Mouse over the title bar of the module you want to move, then click and hold the mouse button down.

  2. While still holding the mouse button down, drag the module to where you would like to place it. You should see a red box underneath the mouse cursor. Release the mouse button and the module should be placed.

Customize the Layout

  1. Click the Customize button at the top of the page.

  2. The following menu will appear when you click on the button. Select the Layouts tab from the left menu. To change the layout, click on any of the options.

    Note: If you switch from a layout with fewer columns to a layout with more columns, the modules won't automatically move to the added columns, you will have to move the modules yourself.
