Working with Revisions to Consent and Authorization Documents in ARROW

How should study teams upload revised documents?

To upload any consent or authorization documents revised during the IRB review process, use the Upload Revisions button in the application.

Clicking on Upload Revisions will open a window in your browser that will allow you to upload a document from your computer. When uploaded, this revised document will automatically replace the previous version of the document.

Do study teams need to delete old versions of documents before uploading new ones?

No. Uploading a revised document via the Upload Revisions button will automatically replace the previous version of the document. Do NOT use the Delete button to remove previous versions.

Do study teams need to update the version number when they make revisions?

If study teams are including the ARROW version number in the actual consent or authorization document, the version number should be updated whenever it changes.

Do study teams need to change the title of revised documents?

No. The previously title provided by the study team can be used unchanged. Version number or dates do NOT need to be included in the titles for consent and authorization documents uploaded to ARROW.

How will revisions be made to consent or authorization documents in ARROW by IRB staff?

When needed, the IRB will revise the consent or authorization documents using track changes in Word. These revised documents will be uploaded to the application in ARROW and sent to the study team for review.

How should study teams mark revisions to consent and authorization documents?

Study teams MUST use track changes when making revisions to study documents. Do NOT use highlighting or any other method to mark changes made to study documents. If a study team makes revisions to uploaded documents without using track changes, the IRB will return the materials to the study team without review to enable track changes.
