Voice Mail - New mailbox setup

Setting up a New Voice Mailbox

From your office phone, dial 5-5500, go to step 1 below.
or
From off campus, dial 265-5500.  When the voice mail system answers, press the # key and enter your 7 digit mailbox number, go to step 1 below. 

Once you’ve entered the voice mail system, you will automatically be in a tutorial to assist you in setting up your mailbox. Follow the prompts from the system as outlined below.

  1. Enter your temporary security code: 1601. 
  2. Enter a new security code.  The security code must be between 4 and 15 digits (6 is the recommended minimum), followed by the # key.
  3. Record your name: Press 2, state your name as you want it to be announced to people who address messages to your mailbox
  4. Press 2 when finished recording.
    1. Press 5 to accept the name as recorded,
    2. Press 6 to review the name or
    3. Press 4 to discard and record your name again. 
  5. Record your greeting: Press 2, record your greeting.
  6. Press 2 when finished recording.
    1. Press 5 to accept the name as recorded,
    2. Press 6 to review the name or
    3. Press 4 to discard and record your name again. 
  7. You must hear the system tell you, “Congratulations you have successfully completed the setup for your mailbox” to complete the setup.

Note: Any time you are in the voice mail system or Web PhoneManager, you will need to enter all 7 digits of your phone number.

Example of greeting:
You’ve reached the voice mailbox of [your name]. I am unable to answer your call at this time. After the tone, please leave your name, phone number and a detailed message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.

Example of greeting with operator escape:
You’ve reached the voice mailbox of [your name].  I am unable to answer your call at this time. After the tone, please leave your name, phone number and a detailed message and I will get back to you as soon as possible.  If you need immediate assistance, press 0 now.

Web PhoneManager:

You need to set up your mailbox via the phone before you can set up any of the Web PhoneManager options.The Web PhoneManager is located at https://voicemail.doit.wisc.edu.  NetID authentication is required. Documentation can be found here.

One of the options in Web PhoneManager allows you to receive an email notification that you have a voice mail message with the option to include the message as a .wav attachment.  Documentation can be found here.

Note:  Any time you are in the voice mail system, or Web PhoneManager, you will need to enter all 7 digits of your phone number.
