Student Center - Updating your Privacy (FERPA) settings

Shows how FERPA restrictions, which indicate what public information should be withheld from the outside public, are set.

Student Center - Updating your FERPA Restrictions

Follow the directions below to update your FERPA settings in the Student Center. To change an email address see Student Center - Setting your Campus Email Addresses.  To change your phone number(s) or address see Student Center - Updating Contact Info

  1. Login to My UW-Madison.
  2. Open the Student Center module (located in Student Services tab or QuickLinks).
  3. Locate the "Privacy" section towards the bottom of Student Center.
  4. Click on the "FERPA restrictions" link to update your FERPA restrictions.
  5. Save when complete.

Note: These changes may take up to 48 hours to take effect throughout the system.



Select the particular piece of directory information that you want to Restrict or Release (if it has been previously restricted) and SAVE.

Note that if you choose to Restrict your NAME that, in effect, restricts all information because will not be able to confirm anything if we cannot confirm our name.
