Utilizing the Study Workspace to Find Study Specific Information in ARROW

How to submit an application, check the submissions status, and obtain general information regarding a submission in ARROW

How do I submit an application in ARROW?

When you have completed an application in ARROW, you will click the Finish button at the end of the application.

To submit the application to the IRB,  you must also click on the Submit link in the submission workspace.  Clicking the Finish button does NOT submit the application to the IRB.

How do I know if my application has been successfully submitted to the IRB?

ARROW has several ways for you to check the status of an application, including the history tab in the submission workspace. The history tab will update after you click the Submit link and will state that the submission has been submitted for review. If you have successfully submitted your application, the history tab should look like this:

The submission you are working on will also be removed from your inbox after you have submitted it to the IRB.

How can I check the status of my application?

The best way to check on the status of your application is to check the submission workspace in ARROW.  The status of the application will be displayed in the yellow bar in the left-hand corner (called the current state) and any activities regarding the submission will be listed in the history tab. If you have questions about the status of a submission, please contact the staff reviewer assigned to the submission.

Status Examples and Meanings

How do I know if I need to respond to any pre-review comments?

When IRB pre-review is complete, the IRB staff reviewer will send the application to you in ARROW. The PI, points of contact, and anyone else with email access to the application will receive an email notification (see Working with Email Notifications ) from ARROW when pre-review comments are ready.  For guidance on how to respond to reviewer notes, please see Working with Reviewer Notes .

How do I know when my submission is approved?

When a submission is approved,  ARROW will send an email notification to the PI, points of contact, and anyone else with email access to the application notifying them that the submission has been approved. IRB correspondence or other approval documentation is available in the submission workspace.
