Moodle- Wiki special characters in the title

UW-Madison has adopted Canvas as its single, centrally supported learning management system. As of 6/1/2018, support for Desire2Learn (D2L) and most Moodle courses has been discontinued. Access to those courses has permanently ended. However, certain Moodle courses that are part of the Adanced Quizzing Content Functional Gaps project are still available on Moodle. Those courses are located on the Moodle Extension site.

Rule of thumb: Do NOT use special characters ("/" and "?") in the title of any wiki page.

There are some special characters that when used in the title of a wiki, change the properties of the wiki, making it no longer work properly.

One example is the "/" character. When this is added, it creates a main wiki page like normal but then it also creates a sub page within the wiki. The main page will be the entire title and the sub page will be everything that is after the "/" character. The problem with this is that everything that you put in your main page will go into almost a cyber limbo. Since the sub page was not created through the means of the wiki tools, there is no way to get back to the main page of your course.
The only way to fix this problem is to delete the wiki all-together and start over fresh without the use of special characters in the name of the wiki.

Another known problem is the use of the "?" symbol in the title of a wiki. When trying to use this symbol in the name of a page of a wiki it will not allow you to save your changes. This symbol should not be used either in any wiki page name.
