How to Configure SSVNC

This article describes how to install and configure SSVNC to remotely access linux workstations

1) OS X, Windows, Linux:

a) Download this app, unzip, and run the "ssvnc" command:
http://www.karlrunge.com/x11vnc/ssvnc.html

b) Enter the following information:

VNC Host:Display localhost
(or using the numbers below to get different sized windows)
VNC Host:Display localhost:75

VNC Password: (leave blank)

Proxy/Gateway: username@best-tux.cae.wisc.edu

Remote SSH Command: (leave blank)

Check the "Use SSH" box.

Click connect.


2) Linux (and possibly OS X if it has tightvnc installed):

# vncviewer -via best-tux.cae.wisc.edu localhost

or other variants:

# vncviewer -purecolor -quality 9 -via best-tux.cae.wisc.edu localhost:75
