How to submit final grades to the Registrar's Office

1. Setup Custom Letter Grade Boundaries Inside Moodle
  1. Under "Course Administration" in the Administration block, select Grades
  2. Under Grade Administration, select Letters
  3. Click the Edit Grade Letters button at the bottom or top of the page
  4. Check Override site defaults and make appropriate changes
  5. Click the Save changes button

2. Export Your Moodle Grades

  1. Under the Course Administration block, select Grades
  2. Under Grade Administration, select Export
  3. Under Export, select Excel Spreadsheet
  4. Under the "export format options" go to "Grade Export Display Type" and choose Letter
  5. Under "Grade items to be included" deselect all but Course total ("Select All/None" option located at the bottom of page)
  6. Click Submit
  7. Click Download and save
  8. Open the file you just saved in Excel
3. Export the UW Grade Roster for Your Course 4. Merge the Moodle grades into the UW grade roster file
  1. Paste the following formula into the first cell under the “Grade Input” heading of the UW grade roster:
    =VLOOKUP($B2,'[filename.xlsx]Grades'!$I$2:$K$num,3,FALSE)
  • 2. Replace filename with the name of the exported Moodle grades file
  • 3. Replace num with the number of rows in the exported Moodle grades file
  • 4. While this cell is selected, click the bottom right corner of the cell (the mouse should turn into a black cross)
  • 5. Drag the cell to the final row of the document
  • 6. Follow steps 9 through 14 under Exporting and Entering Grades in Excel on the Registrar's Electronic Submission of Grades Tutorial

5. Import the completed UW grade roster
