My UW-Madison - Advisor Reports
Advisors can access a number of reports from within the My UW-Madison portal.Note: this service is currently in pilot mode and will be made available to more advisors in the near future.
The Advisor Report module displays reports that have been generated to help in your advisor role. Reports are scheduled to be created at various times throughout the semester and will automatically populate this module if you have students or listings that fit the report topic. Reports that are in development or are being considered for future development include Students on Probation, Students on the Deans List, Readmitted Students, and Students on UW Study Abroad Programs.
Advisor Reports module populated with various reports:
Clicking on a report title will open a new page with the actual report. Deletion of old reports will be managed by the unit responsible for generating the report and length of availability may vary by the type of report. Information on individual reports will usually have the information for each student on a separate page. Often the final page of a report will include a summary listing of all students in this report with their email address.
This project is in the pilot phase with goals to test the technical capacity to schedule and deliver various reports, usefulness of the actual reports, and a better understanding of any action that results from making these reports available to both the advisor and students. For now, only a select group of advisors are participating in the pilot. And depending upon the report that was generated, not all advisors may receive an report about their students, e.g., if none of an advsior's assigned students are currently on probation, they will not receive any reports. Currently Enrolled Students on Probation Report
Based on GPA considerations, students are placed on probation, strict probation or continuing strict probation. Policies governing this status differ by schools and colleges. (Consult the Undergraduate Catalog for the individual school and college policy.) Continued probationary status may result in a student being dropped from the university.
Pay attention to the report generation date. The information shown about your advisees is current as of that date. Reports that are generated around the time of the semester when course additions and drops are common or when grade changes are still in progress can result in changes to students' circumstances. The report includes only students who are currently enrolled and as such, generally won't include students who have been dropped or students who just haven't registered yet.
There are various components of this report and the report utilizes several standard terms to report the data. For instance:
Document Advisor Contacts is data derived from the Advisor Note System.
Terms are listed using the standard ISIS method for identifying terms, e.g., 1122=Fall 2011, 1124=Spring 2012, 1126=Summer 2012. Please consult ISIS.
Last_Action_Taken/Date indicates student’s current academic standing and the date of the action. The most recent action supercedes all previous actions.
Use and disclosure of student data is governed by FERPA. Please consult http://registrar.wisc.edu/resources_and_consultation.htm for more information about this policy.
