Activation of VPN access
Procedure for undergraduate & graduate students to activate the VPN for their accounts
VPN Access
The College of Engineering has its own VPN pool, to control access to resources that are inside the College of Engineering firewall. This is known as the CoE VPN, and instructions for setting up the VPN connection may be found here. However, not everyone has permission to access to this resource. Faculty and staff automatically have access to this, and graduate students may opt in. Undergraduate students may request access to the Engineering_Licensing VPN only (also known as Tethered Software VPN). These services are not available to students from other schools and colleges who are enrolled in Engineering courses. There is also "collaborator" access which gives access through the firewall but not to any other CAE resources.
Students in the College of Engineering can activate VPN access on the CAE Account Management section of the CAE website. Faculty and staff members who did not get this access automatically can follow the same procedure. You will need to log into the site in order to find and access this. Select CAE forms from the left-side navigation options.
On the CAE Forms list, select Request VPN Access. You will only see this option if you are eligible for this service.
Clicking the Request VPN Access link will take you to a page which provides some information about the service, and grants you VPN access. This page references the Office of Cybersecurity and the University's Responsible Use Policy. You may wish to review those prior to accessing the form so you are sure what you are agreeing to.
