Learn@UW - Adding XML Files as Content to a Course

This document explains how to add an XML file as content to a course that references cascading style sheets (css) and document type definition (dtd) files on a local hard drive.

  1. Upload the XML file to a folder in your course files.
  2. Recreate the file structure by adding subfolders. For example, if "part3.xml" references "styles/style3.css," create the subfolder "styles" and place the "style3.css" file in it.
  3. Copy the referenced css and dtd files into the appropriate course folders. In the above example, "style3.css" must go into the "styles" folder. If the reference in your XML file was just "style3.css", it would instead go into the main folder.
  4. Create the content item from course files specifying the XML file. References to css and dtd files are automatically satisfied.
