What is the L&S Policy concerning request for payment of more than two-ninths summer salary for unclassified academic employees?
L&S has a policy governing more than 2/9ths payments for unclassified academic year (9 months) employees (faculty, academic staff, or limited). Employees are required to request prior approval for payment of more than two months summer salary where the use of all funds administered through the UW-Madison (whether state funds, gifts, or extramural contracts or grants) are used to cover salary costs.

College policy permits a combination of L&S funding with other summer salary support up to the University maximum of no more than 8/9 summer salary over any three-year period. Please note that total compensation earned during the summer months include payments for overload assignments.
