D2L - Student view of rubrics (UW-Madison)
UW-Madison is adopting Canvas as the single, centrally supported learning management system, and discontinuing support for Desire2Learn (D2L) and Moodle. Access to D2L and Moodle will permanently end June 1, 2018. For information about retaining materials from D2L or Moodle, please refer to this document.
Students have the ability to see dropbox rubric grids before submitting assignments, and can view assessed rubrics of all types. Instructors can also preview what rubrics look like to a student.
How a rubric is viewed will depend on the way that the instructor created the rubric (see Attaching a rubric to an assignment or grade). Students will not be able to view rubrics that have been attached to quizzes or discussions. However, there are three locations where a student could see a rubric:
The full rubric grid is visible to students on the dropbox submission screen.
To see what a dropbox rubric looks like to a student, use the "role switch" widget on your course home page as described in Viewing a Course as a Student.
Students view rubrics in the Gradebook via the "Assessment details" link, which will only appear if the rubric has been added to the grade item:
To see what a rubric looks like to an individual student, preview a student's gradebook as described in in Viewing a Course as a Student.
The rubrics tool can also be added to the navbar. Students will see all rubrics, but can only preview published rubrics.
