Moodle - Problems Creating a New Course
This articles discusses common problems encountered while creating a course for UW Moodle.
Cannot find the desired UW course in the timetable records
- Check to make sure that the course is available for self service course creation: Moodle - Self service course creation
- If the UW course is not showing up on the roster association screen, then you might not be listed as the official instructor for the course. If this is the case, then you can still get at the course by clicking the "Search for a course" button. See also Moodle - Logging in and Creating a Course
- If the UW course shows up greyed out, then the course may already be added to the UW Moodle site. It is not currently possible to add the same UW section to two different moodle courses.
Cannot import course archive from previous semester.
If a person creating a new course cannot find the correct course archive to import, they may not be enrolled as an instructor in the past course they want to import. If this is the case, the person creating the new course can contact the past professor to add them as instructor to the course or Moodle support can assist in doing so.
Cannot use the self-service course creation process.
Only individuals who are faculty, staff, or who are currently teaching a course are allowed to start the course creation process.
