Reconfigure your UW-Madison email account to use Modern Authentication in the Apple Mail app

To reconfigure your UW-Madison email account to use modern authentication in the Apple Mail app, you will need to delete your existing account and then readd it. See below to learn how to perform these steps.

Note: When you remove an email account from the Mail app, the account's messages are deleted and no longer available on your Mac. Copies of messages remain on the account's mail server and are still available (from webmail, for example).

Important: If you're unsure whether messages you want to keep are still on the mail server, move or copy them to a mailbox stored on your Mac (the mailbox appears in the On My Mac section in the Mail sidebar) before you delete the account in Mail.

Steps:

  1. Refer to Apple's documentation to learn how to remove an email account from the Apple Mail app.

  2. Follow the steps above to configure your account with Apple Mail.

Configure Access to the Campus Directory (Whitepages)

Remember: the Global Address List (GAL) will only contain Microsoft 365 accounts. Therefore, you may still need access to the Campus Directory (Whitepages) to find the person you are searching for.

Use these instructions to configure the Campus Directory (Whitepages) within this client: Directory Search (Win) - Configure Thunderbird for White Pages.
