Recycling of Dead Batteries & Toner Cartridges

How to recycle dead batteries and used toner cartridges

Follow the recycling steps below:
  • Ink Jet Cartridges: Send cartridge in campus mail to "Ink jet recycling". Only Canon and HP brands can be sent.
  • Laser Toner Cartridges (for fax machines, printers and some copiers): Mark boxes with "Return to MDS" and leave them in your building's MDS drop-off area.
  • Rechargeable batteries (small "disposable" batteries used in computers, cameras, and tape players, etc.): Send nickel, lithium, lead and button cell batteries to "Battery recycling" in campus mail.
  • Alkaline batteries: Send to "Battery recycling" in campus mail or recycle them in the drop box in Microbial Sciences Building.
NOTE: If sent through campus mail, single use batteries will end up in a landfill. Those placed in a drop box have a better chance of being recycled.
