Campus Active Directory - Requesting an Organizational Unit (OU) Administrator

This document outlines the process of requesting an Organizational Unit (OU) Administrator in Campus Active Directory.

We have established this request process in order to provide a more secure and efficient Active Directory service.
The entire process may take 7 - 14 business days to complete.  The reason for the longer processing period is the requirement by Campus Security to vet with your department director or dean that you are authorized to have access and administer their Organizational Unit (OU).

Requesting an Organizational Unit (OU) Administrator

  1. Navigate to: https://cads.ad.wisc.edu
  2. Important Note: You must have already requested an received OU before you may proceed.

  3. Click on "Request an OU Administrator" link in the left navigation column

    CADS OU Request Form - Your Contact Information

    • Option 1: Type your full name in the "Search UW:" text box and it will auto search the directory
      • When the name you desire appears below click on it to select and the information text boxes will auto fill with your information
    • Option 2: Provide information manually
      • First Name: Enter your first name
      • Last Name: Enter your last name
      • Phone: Enter your phone number
      • Email: Enter your email address

    CADS OU Request Form - New OU Administrator Contact Information

    • Option 1: Type the Administrator's full name in the "Search UW:" text box and it will auto search the directory
      • When the name you desire appears below click on it to select and the information text boxes will auto fill with their information
    • Option 2: Provide information manually
      • First Name: Enter Adminstrator's first name
      • Last Name: Enter Administrator's last name
      • Phone: Enter Administrator's phone number
      • Email: Enter Administrator's email address

    CADS OU Request Form - Your Organization Information

    • UDDS: Select your UDDS number from the drop-down menu
    • Your OU Name: Select your OU from the drop-down menu
    • Describe your intended use: Provide text describing intended use

Click the "Submit OU Admin Request" button

You will receive a notice by email each time there is an action (approve, reject, cancel, finished) performed on your request.
