Windows OS - Service Description
This document gives an overview of Windows OS.
Windows Operating System is the primary software used on IBM-compatible personal computers that enables the computer hardware to communicate and operate with other software. Windows has undergone many upgrades over the years. Recent versions have included networking and multimedia support. DoIT recommends the use of Windows 7 for support purposes.

The DoIT Help Desk provides support for the following versions of Windows:
- Windows Vista
- Windows 7
- Windows 8
Computers must also meet following minimum RAM requirements:
- 512MB RAM for Windows Vista (800mhz Intel or AMD processor).
Hardware must also be reliable and vendor support must be available to DoIT technologists. See DoIT Supported PC Hardware List of manufacturers that DoIT Repair will support or service. Computers that do not meet these conditions will be eligible for system recovery only (provided the customer has their original system recovery media).
