Content in Learn@UW is released to the entire class by default, but can also be selectively released to a group of students, or hidden from student view.

  4. Under Release Conditions, click Create.
  5. Select desired condition from the Condition Type menu and any desired conditions from the additional drop-down menus.
    • For example, if you wished to hide a topic until a student completed a quiz, you would select Completed Quiz Attempt, select a quiz by Name, and enter the number of attempts.
  6. Click Create to add the group release, and Update to save your changes.
You can also use the date selectors to set start, end, and due dates and times for the Module.

"Pseudo-students" and Testing the Release Condition

A pseudo student can be used to more fully emulate the experience of a student in your course. While the role switch function on an instructor's course home page can mimic a student's view of Learn@UW to some degree, the experience is less than complete in a case like this which involves a specific student. Using a pseudo-student is helpful in this case because you can put them in a group and check to see if your settings work as expected.

To obtain a pseudo-student, please follow the directions on Learn@UW (UW-Madison Only) - Non NetID account Request .

After ensuring that the pseudo-student is enrolled in a group not designated to receive the content, log in as the pseudo-student. You should not see the topic with the conditional release.
