Learn@UW - Course Setup Checklist for Instructors

Instructors may find the following checklist helpful when setting up a Desire2Learn course.

 Done   Item
    Log in to Learn@UW at https://learnuw.wisc.edu/
  Verify your course site has been created (or submit a request to have it created). For details see Learn@UW (UW-Madison Only) - Requesting a course that is not automatically created (future, non-timetable, Independent Study) .
  Enroll other instructors, TAs, course developers who need access to the course and are not already enrolled. For details see Learn@UW (UW-Madison Only) - Adding Participants to a Course .
  Set up class groups (if using Groups). 
  Build course content by either starting from scratch or copy components from another course.
  Customize your course look and feel by changing the navigation bar and homepage, if desired.
  Post syllabus and schedule.
  Update all course dates (due dates, date restrictions, etc.).
  Add Dropbox assignments (if using the Dropbox).
  Add Quizzes and check them by previewing them (if using Quizzes).
  Set up your gradebook (if using the Gradebook).
  Add and check Grade Items and associations (if using the Gradebook). Click here if you use a Weighted grade system and here if you use a Points grade system for setup information.
  Update Discussion area (if using Discussions).
  Check all of the links in your course to make sure everything is working.
  Use the News tool to add a welcome note to your students and any special instructions for the course.
  Use the Classlist to send a welcome email to students.
  Activate the course so that students can access it.
