Learn@UW - Sorting Gradebooks by Student Names

This document describes how an instructor can sort a gradebook in a course by student names.

You can sort the rows in a gradebook either by last names or first names of the students in ascending (A-Z) or descending (Z-A) order.

The header Last Name, First Name usually contains an indicator symbol following Last Name or First Name indicating how the rows are currently sorted by. A downward pointing triangle means descending order and an upward pointing triangle means ascending order:

To change the sort order of the rows, do the following:

  Click Last Name. Click First Name. Click First Name
twice.*

* Do not double-click. Click the second time after the rows have been sorted in ascending order.
