D2L - Removing a Student from a Course (UW-Madison)

UW-Madison is adopting Canvas as the single, centrally supported learning management system, and discontinuing support for Desire2Learn (D2L) and Moodle. Access to D2L and Moodle will permanently end June 1, 2018. For information about retaining materials from D2L or Moodle, please refer to this document.

D2L allows you to control your classlist including removing a student.

To unenroll a student:

  1. Start by clicking on the Communication drop-down menu in the navigation bar, and then Classlist.
  2. Find the desired student in the enrollment list and check the box to the left of their name.
  3. Click on the Unenroll User Unenroll icon above the user names.
  4. Click Yes to confirm.

Removing a student who is currently enrolled in a course through the registrar will result in them being re-added that evening.

Instructors can unenroll TA - Graders or fellow instructors using the steps above.
