UW Digital ID - Customer - Registering Your Smart Phone / Changing Smart Phones for Use for a One Time Password (OTP)

This document will summarize the steps you will take to install the smart phone application that will relay your one-time password (OTP) for authentication to HRS or SFS.

Important Note: The UW Digital ID Service Team and your Local Registration Authority (LRA) do not provide smart phone support.

For smart phone support contact Symantec https://vipmobile.verisign.com/help.v 

1. You are responsible for installing the Symantec VIP application on your smart phone.

2. Visit the following site m.vip.symantec.com to download and install the Symantec VIP app on your smartphone

3. To complete your OTP request you must present a government issued photo ID and your UW ID to an LRA.
Acceptable forms of Identification: UW Campus ID, UW Health ID, Drivers License, Passport, US Military ID Card.

4. To find out who your LRA is click on the "Click here for assistance" link at the bottom of the page within the UW Digital ID site.
You can also find this information by clicking on the "Find Help" link in the left-hand navigation menu within the UW Digital ID site.

5. After you have verified your identity the LRA will verify the credential ID and assign / activate your smartphone.


Additional Information: When you get a different phone or perform a reset on your phone -

1. When you get a new phone or perform a reset on your phone you will have to download and install the Symantec VIP application on your smart phone.

2. Visit the following site m.vip.symantec.com to download and install the Symantec VIP app on your smart phone

3. To assign / activate your smart phone you will have to contact your LRA.

4. To find out who your LRA is click on the "Click here for assistance" link at the bottom of the page within the UW Digital ID site.
You can also find this information by clicking on the "Find Help" link in the left-hand navigation menu within the UW Digital ID site.

5. To complete your OTP request you must present a government issued photo ID and your UW ID to an LRA.
